Family and School Association

Also commonly know as FSA.

Its a parent-volunteer arm of Children's House, where activities benefiting our children are executed.

The upcoming FSA organized function is the Fall Family Fun Day on October 5th.

The reason for this entry is to seek out parents, who are interested and willing, to part with a little of their time each month to volunteer in FSA run activities. WE WANT YOU!
(1) FUNDRAISING: This is a program that generates the extra funds for our school and at the same time fosters a sense of belonging when we all come together and work towards a common goal, to better our school for our children. The first FUNDRAISING coming up is BARNES and NOBLE Night in November 2008.
(2) SOCIAL COMMITTEE: This is a program that brainstorms and executes social events for our teachers, parents and children bringing us a little closer with each participation.

(3) FUN LUNCH: This is a program where parents do a little cooking and prepare lunch for the children (only those who sign up) at school. There are volunteers who cook and volunteers who distribute the lunch.

(4) LIBRARY: This is a program where parents spend an hour each month (Wednesdays only) to assist either the Toddler, Preschool or Kindergarten class in selecting a book to bring home for the week. The volunteers would have to record the books selected, books returned and send out reminder notes for books not returned. For this program, the volunteer would never be assigned to the class where your child belongs to.

(5) SCHOOL BEAUTIFICATION: This is a program that manages the external surroundings of our school. Volunteers would have to plant new plants, perform a little weed control among our flower beds and all else that makes our external surroundings pleasant for our children at play.

(6) ROOM AMBASSADORS: This is where a parent (or two) volunteers their time to act as liaison between parent and teacher. An important avenue where concerns can be voiced, be the main emergency phone chain contact. Organizing snack day program for the class and lastly shopping for gifts for our teachers.

(7) SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB: This is a program where books can be purchased from SCHOLASTIC directly at a discounted rate. The volunteer would have to compile and distribute monthly catalogs. After which receive the orders, send a compiled order to Scholastic and redistribute orders to the appropriate family when the ordered books are received.

The school is always looking for parent volunteer for our FSA activities. Join us in making Children's House a more fulfilling experience for your child today, be an FSA volunteer.

Reminder- Next Tuesday, October 14, 2008 is the FSA 2008 Kickoff meeting. This is an open meeting for all CHBC parents to learn more about the FSA and how to get involved in your child's school. We'll have refreshments and childcare so both parents should plan to attend!! Look forward to seeing everyone there.
