A child was admitted into the ER for stitches...
.... In the ER they insisted that they glue the wound instead of stitch it. They said that is all they ever do with kids anymore. I was very apprehensive, but they truly insisted and I finally agreed. The glue didn't hold and now his scar is rather wide and if I want to fix it I have to wait a year and go to a plastic surgeon to have it cut open and re-stitched. Not a thought I relish.
Advise from a plastic surgeon,
... he said he NEVER lets anyone glue his kids, he thinks it doesn't work and ERs use it so they can avoid having to deal with upset kids and stitches, not because it's really best. He said I should never let anyone glue my kids again. He also said ERs have plastic surgeons on call and not to let ER staff stitch your kids, particularly on their faces. You can always request they call in the plastic surgeon on call and wait for them to do the stitching. I just wanted to pass this on to you in case you ever have such a situation arise (hopefully not). I sure wish I had known.
Good thing to know, right?

Friendly Fridays!
This Friday is the first friendly Friday meet up at the Yardley Kingdom playground (Lower Makefield Township playground). I am crossing my fingers for the weather to hold. It had been extremely erratic wouldn't you agree?
A few of us have already penned it down as a scheduled play date. It's good for the kids to see their friends again and even the possibility of new friends who will be joining Children's House in the Fall.
Summer seems to be going fairly smooth in our household with little trips here and there to minimize on the possibility of catching cabin fever.
Yes, we have taken the plunge and bought Sesame Place passes. We have been there on 2 separate occasions and with the help of the other mums I have not misplaced any of my kids. They have enjoyed seeing their friends again and playing with sand, water and taking rides.
See you Friday!

Summer Vacations 2009
Summer vacations are upon us. So far it's been a great 2 days with the kids at home, really it has. We are into the third day and so far there has been no bloodshed.
Unfortunately we are taking a pass at the Sesame Place outing today with some of the mums from school all because of me. I am concerned about bringing all 3 kids to a water park and have them running in different directions and being interested in doing different things. I will have to do a dry run before that happens. My kids are at the the stage where they have opinions, fearless and a strong desire to venture out without the knowledge that there are "crazy people" out there. So, if I never develop the skill of holding a proper conversation with an adult it's because of my 3 constant distraction.
Having stayed across from the LMT library for 3 years now, this is the first Summer that I have brought the kids to the library. They had a blast picking out a book each on Tuesday when we dropped in for a visit.
I have to find that Friendly Fridays schedule for the playground meetup. It will be fun for the kids to be around their CHBC friends again.
