Thanksgiving 2008

This has been a challenging year to say the least. We have wars going on, economic difficulties and the uncertainties of tomorrow.

However what we have today is the health of our children and the love of our families, with that we will be able to remain strong and enjoy our blessings. Together we will be able to rise above the challenges as a school and as a community through these unpredictable times.

I am thankful for all the friends that we have made because of Children's House.
I am thankful for my kids, who embodies everything that is happy and innocent.
I am thankful for wonderful knowledge-seeking environment that is Children's House.
And most of all I am thankful for you who reads this little school blog of mine.

Have a Warm and Happy Thanksgiving.

My child's pride

Isabelle was very proud of herself when she came home on Monday. She had received a "certificate" from Mrs. Hepler for good work choices. There were many reasons for her to be happy and proud however the main reasons were (a) only a few kids in her class received the "certificate" and (b) her sister did not receive one. Isabelle has been glowing ever since and constantly reminding us to bring her to Applebee's.
Note: These vouchers will be distributed throughout the school. Mrs. Hepler is using the vouchers to motivate the kids over a period of time versus a mass distribution. Please do not send any complaints to the office or "shoot" my kid when you see her coming...

Barnes and Noble Night 2008

Ahhh... It was a wonderful night to be out. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, family members are in town. Plus the weather was slightly agreeable.

I hope everyone had tons of fun socializing and buying books. I did find the Nutcraker Ballet book (Thanks Gretchen, Thanks Jane) for my girls, in addition to the frivolous books my daughters insisted that could not live without.

Once again, Thank you so much for all your support towards our school.

Elementary Class President and Vice President

Do you remember where and what you were doing November 4th 2008? It was a historic and emotional time in the lives of many people all over the United States of America and might I even be bold as to say the World.

The democracy that exists in the United States of America is unique in itself and we can all proud. Having said that, the elementary class took the spirit of the election that brewed in every corner of our neighbourhoods and held a mock presidential election and as well as the election of a class President and Vice President.

Congratulations to Aiden for being nominated as Class President and to Ross for the nomination of Class Vice President. Way to go, guys! Who knows one day it might even be for real!

Hot Lunch

Today was the first day of FSA's Hot Lunch program. This is program where the children of CHBC, who stay for lunch, are able to receive a hot lunch prepared by parent volunteer for a nominal $3.50.

Next week is Mac & Cheese, Cucumber with Ranch Dip, Fruit Cup and water. Might you consider including your child for hot lunch next week?

I volunteered my services for hot lunch today. And though it seemed complicated for a novice like myself, it turned out to be fairly straightforward. Might you also consider volunteering your services for the hot lunch program?

The coordinator for the hot lunch program is Chrissy Beffert, she can be contacted at cak37@comcast.net to either sign up or volunteer.

SOS (Support Our School)

Our Barnes and Noble night is November 24th 2008.

Please let your family and friends know that if they shop at their local Barnes and Noble on that day itself, please let the cashier know of our

Bookfair I.D 378027

this way a percantage of their sales will benefit Children's House of Bucks County.

Thank you so much for all that you have done in helping us fundraise for the children of Children's House of Bucks County.

Thanksgiving Festivities 2008

Tuesday November 25th 2008

This is the day set aside for our children to celebrate a little Thanksgiving of their own at school. A parent will be invited to join your child in the classroom for a little song, food and fun.

Songs that they have been practicing.
Crafts that they have worked on.
Food that they have helped prepared.

Unfortunately only one parent is invited due to the space constraints and in exchange for entry a non-perishable food item is requested. This donated food will be sent to Tabitha's Closet, a mission at the Fallsington United Methodist Church.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to join Mrs. Hepler's class for Thanksgiving last year. There were songs and entertainment. There were crafts of place mats, native Indian headgear. There was butter, bread, dried apple slices and spaghetti squash that the children helped in one way or another to prepare.

Overall, its a wonderful experience and as always the cutest thing you will ever see. Don't forget your cameras.

SCRIP Orders

There will be another SCRIP order in time for our upcoming social events. Please remember to order your scrip on either November 19th and December 1st.

The order form can be found in the office, if you have misplaced your order form.

Good job everyone!! You have so far added $231 in additional funds for the school via SCRIP. Thank you!!!

Scholastic Books for Ms. Lauren's class

Last Wednesday, the toddler class received their new books from Scholastic. And there were more than a bunch (I had to separately take 2 different shots...)

Thank you to all the parents who purchased books for us to receive our selection of bonus books from Scholastic.
Don't forget to keep buying books. As the saying goes, books are a window to the world. Now, isn't that a wonderful thing.

All those good stuff

Discipline, Manners, Courtesy, these are just a few of the good stuff that my son Jonathan is trying to learn at school.

Honestly, he is having a difficult time. And switching between warfare, survival of the fittest at home, etc. and the peace and tranquility of school is quite a challenge and I would say confusing at times.

Jonathan is beginning to understand more (versus his speech) as I spoke to him about his behavior at school, he broke into tears. All this while I was driving. Yikes...

Whatever the case, we will have to work more with Jonathan and fine tune that gentleman behavior I so desperately want him to possess.

Candle Sale

There are still a few mason jar bottles of candles left to be purchased.

The scents include: Winter Wonderland, Brandied Pear, Fresh Linen, Holiday Wreath, Cinnamon and Hot Apple Pie.

Its $7 a jar.

I loved the Cedarwood Vanilla candle that I purchased on Halloween. The scent to me would be a cross of my church during Easter and baked goods.
