All of us at Children's House celebrated PJ Day at school in preparation of Winter. With the wonderful weather this weekend and looking ahead to Summer it's hard to think about snow and dreary weather again.

New Lessons
Theresa came home on Monday happy to have worked on a new lesson. It is as she puts it "A Big Kid Lesson". I am missing the technical term for the lesson but she calls it chains.
It's basically getting 2 chains together, label it with a 2. Add another 2 chains to that chain, label it with a 4. On and on, eventually resulting in the 2 times table.
Theresa did the 2, 3, 4 and 5 times table.
She's actually learning multiplication however I am sure she does not know it. Theresa first learnt it in Mrs. Park's class however the "print outs" that you see here she did it in Mrs. Boggi's class. Yes, my daughter has the privilege of attending both Mrs. Park and Mrs. Boggi's class.

Isabelle comes home today with a new lesson she learnt in Mrs. Hepler's class. It's called addition with red and blue dots. She was so proud and so are we, Isabelle had to put it up on the refrigerator for all to see.
My daughters occasionally do compete especially where school is concerned because they are in different classes and tend to have an impression that their classroom is better than the other classroom. This despite my constant reassurance that all classrooms are the same, materials do however get rotated differently and there is no conspiracy to advance a group of children and not the others.

All this excitement and its only Tuesday. I am so proud of my girls...

Answers
Maybe I am just too conceited, snobbish for my own good but I think that there is something definitely wrong when there are answers to the Puzzles and Mazes book I had purchased from Barnes and Noble on Friday for my daughters.

Mid Term
I received my son's mid term report today from Ms. Lauren without much apprehension. Fortunately, a quick check with Ms. Lauren found that I did not have to attend Mass before reviewing the report helped too.
Jonathan has done relatively well at school so far. Behold, one of his favourite activity is sorting dinosaurs and his favourite word is Dinosaur.
(1) He knows where to his stuff is supposed to be
(2) He is trying to dress himself (coat and shoes).
(3) He is able to clean up.
(4) He pours, pincer grasp and scoops objects.
(5) He stacks, builds, matches, sorts, strings various activities.
(6) He says single words, retains new words quickly.
(7) He enjoys stories, some group activities but craves space.
I think in all it sums up what being a third child and only male child in our family. He is learning and exploring (in uncharted territories) and at the same time wanting to be able to do it himself without anyone pouncing on him.
I am glad that he is able to spend 6 hours each day to be by himself, learning independently and above all have fun. Did I ever mention that he is my only child who waits to attend school and refuses to leave when school dismisses?

Teacher In Service Day
Tomorrow is the second last Teacher-In-Service day for the 2008-2009 school year.
My son has been down with the cough and running nose for the past week and my daughter was sent home early today for the temperature. Tomorrow will be a day of rest for my kids and hopefully cleanse their bodies of their sickness, however I am so over being home all the time. I have reached the point beyond cabin fever, down the cliff freefall style...
What can I do with kids this young anyway?
The weather is suppose to warm up by this weekend and hopefully enough for us to enjoy some outdoor activities. Plus Mrs. Hepler's class is going on an outdoor field trip on Monday, the weather has to warm up for my sake at least, right?
Enjoy your long weekend and hopefully beautiful sunshine.
