Parent Teacher Conference

I hope everyone had a productive parent-teacher conference.

We had a good conference and the girls are well adjusted and learning well at school. We cannot be more proud and satisfied.

We have come to the end of February, it's a mere 3 months before the end of the school year. How times flies. As I constantly say to everyone my kids are "repeating" next year. My kids are too young to get promoted to the next level so they will remain where they are for another year. This is a nostalgic time for as I prepare my kids to the fact that some of their friends are moving upwards or away from Children's House. Try as I might to keep things consistent and familiar its impossible. well that's just how life is, right?

Important reminders:
(1) Have you submitted your child(ren) re-enrollment for 2009-2010? Due date is March 31 2009.
(2) Have you signed up for the 2 week Home Environment program in June?
(3) Have you signed up for the 2 weeks of Summer Camp run by Mrs. Park and Mrs. Boggi?

Hot Lunch

My preparation of today's hot lunch was simple yet stressful. Simple because there was no actual cooking involved. Stressful because I had to get the food ready on time and in school by 11:45am. I did not want to get it ready too early and it freezes in this wonderfully erratic weather of ours.

I hope everyone survived my "hot lunch" and continues to participate in this wonderfully enjoyable program run by Chrissy Beffert.

As always, the profits from this program allows us the FSA to sponsor 2 teacher luncheons for the school year. The next teacher luncheon for this school year will be held around May.

The next 2 hot lunch menus are as follows:

March 9
Chicken Nuggets w/ketchup. Carrots with Ranch dip. Oatmeal cookie.

March 23
Cheese Quesadillas with sour creme on the side. Cucumber with ranch dip. Jell-O Fruit Cup.

Summer Camp - June 2009

Children's House will be providing for this Summer a June two-week summer camp (the weeks of June 8 and 15 with extended Home Environment hours). This will provide assistance to parents from when school ends to when their external Summer Camp begins.

Sign up with the school as soon as possible. Drop by the office to see Mrs. Weir for more information.

Children's House would require a minimum of 5 kids to run this program.

CHBC Make Up Night

To describe it, a blast!

Thank you Donna Garcia for her wonderful make up work. Donna was on her feet the entire night providing everyone who attended with her professional make up advise for free. It would normally cost you an arm and half of your leg. This is her website should you ever require professional make up services http://web.mac.com/donnapgarcia

It was a fun filled night and I am sure everyone wished it did not have to end. We chatted, drank and ate (a lovely Indian dinner prepared by Sheetal Gohel).

Thank you everyone who attended and look out for out next event.

So, look out and sign up for the next event to mingle with us. It's always loads of fun.

Hot Lunch

The next hot lunch will be prepared by yours truly. It's simple enough and fun for everyone, we have 32 on this very popular lunch. However, we will always welcome more orders.

February 23
Waffles with Strawberries, Blueberries and Banana. Apple with Yogurt Dip

March 9
Chicken Nuggets w/ketchup. Carrots with Ranch dip. Oatmeal cookie.

To sign up for hot lunches, please contact Chrissy @ cak37@comcast.net.

What's Happenning? Week of February 3

February is a short month but packed with activities

(1) Loose Change Drive
A jar with the label "Loose Change Drive" has been set up for each classroom. Hunt around and I am sure everyone can come up with some change. The amount collected will be to fund new books for the school library. Some of the books that your child brings home during bag day are tagged "Loose Change Drive", this is one of the ways we expand our school library.

(2) 100TH DAY SLEEPOVER
Friday, February 27th

On the 100th day of school, the Elementary Class celebrates with a sleepover. They play games, watch movies, snack on food, and sleepover. Some children prefer not to sleepover. Parents are welcome to stay over, too!!! They always have a great time, both parents and children!

(3) Scholastic Book Fair
Scholastic Book Fair will be held on the last week of February. Your child will be given a scheduled time to browse the book fair with their classmates, books can be purchased by your child or a note can be sent home for interested titles. The book fair is run by Gretchen Merchiore (Sidney's mom) and she is looking for volunteers to assist.

(4) Valentine Day festivities
Valentine's Day will be celebrated on Friday February 13th. Children may be in their valentines, banded together, with only their name on it to be distributed in class.
The class sizes are as follows:

Mrs. Boggi 17 students
Mrs. Boggi ADP 12 students
Mrs. Park 18 students
Mrs. Enoch-Rex 11 students
Mrs. Hepler 19 students

Kindergarten Open House - February 5th 2009

This Thursday, February 5th @ 1pm, there will be an open house for the Kindergarten class. There was a wonderful article on last week's Montessori magazine, Tomorrow's Child, on choosing a Kindergarten education for your child. It simply states that completing Kindergarten is the culmination of the years of Montessori preschool education that most of our children have.

I am always proud that my children have this opportunity to be Montessori educated. They see the world differently, they solve problems differently, they conduct themselves differently and is simply different from the average child because of this education.

If I can peel myself away from the mundane and weather permitting, I will be attending the open house. BTW, my twins are still 2 years away from Kindergarten.
