Scholastic Books for Mrs. Hepler

Thank you to all the parents who purchased Scholastic Books from Mrs. Hepler's class. Mrs. Hepler has received the above free books from Scholastic because of your purchases. They will be added to Mrs. Hepler's class library to be enjoyed by your child, the rest of the class and other children after them.
Thank you!

Halloween art

This was done by Isabelle in Mrs. Hepler's class. She had brought it home just in time for Halloween.
Although the thought of Halloween conjures up ghosts, witches, etc. I have been reiterating the idea of ghosts (and everything else along those lines) are not real, dress up. In the hope of minimising fear in the girls. They are eagerly waiting for Friday so that they can dress up, walk to our neighbors and get treats. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for me, they will not be eating 99% of the treats that they bring home.

Halloween - October 31st 2008

How time flies. I could have sworn I just dropped my kids off for their first day at school.

On Friday, we are going to have our school's traditional halloween parade @ 11:15am. Come and see your child and the school do a parade (twice) around the school in their ghoulish (more like princess, right?) costume. Its the cutest thing you'll ever see, I promise.

The entire school will also jointly sing Halloween songs for you as the audience. The toddlers will also do a pumpkin roll.

Should you wish to pick your child early from their classroom @ 11:45am. Please do let your directresses know ahead of time, else your child will resume their school day as normal.

Personally, I do pick my kids up from school just because its Halloween night. To rest and relax at home before an evening full of trick and treating... What about you?

Picture Day - Wednesday, October 29th 2008

Yes, it's this Wednesday.

Can you believe it? My calendar just alerted me. And although I keep mentioning it, it too seemed to have escaped me that it's this Wednesday.

Remember, dress neatly and the background is blue...

Display for Children's House

This magnetic stick up for your car was designed by Hope Padalino (Ross and Scott's Mom). We are now able to proudly display that our children attend Children's House of Bucks County.

They will be available for sale on Halloween for $5 or contact the office to get them earlier.

Parent - Teacher Conference

So, I hope the Parent - Teacher Conference went well for everyone.

That you understand more of what your child does in school and handles herself/himself when you are not around.

I am glad that my girls are socially well-adjusted preschoolers and keeping up with the educational aspect of being a preschooler in Children's House. (Note to self, please remember to cancel extra tuition classes) Phew!

A gift to your class library

There is a really nice tradition in Children's House and that is when your child's birthday comes along, you can donate a book to your child's class library in his/her name. There are little book labels that your child can write their names on and date the book.
My donation this year comes about a week late, my excuse being sick kids at home. But thank you, Gretchen Merchiore (Sydney's mom) who brought the topic up during FSA night.
If you flip through the books your child brings home during bag day, most likely you are reading a book donated to the school from a child who studied/studies at Children's House. The generosity of parents before provided for that book, so if the opportunity arise please donate a book or two to your class library or school library so that all our children are able to explore the wonders and knowledge that only reading can bring.

FSA Night 2008

Thank you parents for taking the time to sit down, to listen and get involved with our FSA.

We are all here because of our kids.

On behalf of the School Board and FSA Chair, Thank you.

Incident: Telephone Number

Between my 3 kids, it is a toss up as to who gets what and when when I am the only adult around. Getting harried to complete task after task.

Isabelle was the first child I picked up from school yesterday. She was proudly holding onto her craft that she had made in school.

Isabelle: Mummy, look I've got telephone numbers. (Yes, there was more than 1 rolled up paper)

Me: Isabelle, I do not think that we will be able to call anyone from school. (I was thinking that they were learning their numbers and simply scribbling their telephone numbers on pieces of paper)

Later that night as I was sorting through their work I saw this. BTW, The children are learning about calling 911 in cases of emergency and using the telephone.

This is what happens when I miss taking the time to stop and listen.

Always be surprised at the new things your child can learn in school.

Fundraising by Jennifer Donohue

This year's fundraising coordinator is Jennifer Donohue. Her oldest son, Michael, is in the elementary program with Mrs. Enoch-Rex and daughter, Sophia, is in the preschool program with Mrs. Boggi.

I hope everyone has read her wonderful letter to us all detailing the fundraising programs at Children's House. If not, here it is.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 1 2008

To all of our CHBC families,

Welcome to another school year at Children's House. My name is Jennifer Donohue and I am the fundraising coordinator for the 2008-2009 school year. This is my second turn at fundraising coordinator, my fifth year as a parent of 2 students here at CHBC.

Fundraising is an integral part of the FSA budget here at Childen's House. It helps pay for Fall Family Fun Day, the Breakfast with Someone Special in January, classroom supplies, in house specials, etc. I, as well as anyone, know of the financial strain and worries of the ever looming economic crisis we are co-existing in. It is for this reason that we are trying to host passive fundraisers instead of the hard sales we have had in the past. We want to have fundraisers that benefit the school, do not put a strain on our families, and provide all with a positive outcome.

For the 2008-2009 school year we would like all of our families to participate in our:

BOXTOPS for EDUCATION program - a simple and easy way to easy money for the school, just clip BoxTop for Education coupon on over hundreds of products, some you most probably already use, and turn them in to your child's classroom. Each coupon earns the school 10cents. And if you order online, order through the BoxTops website and our school receives a percentage of the sale. Just sign up!!!

SCRIP - This was out very successful pilot program started last school year. Through Great Lakes Scrip, there are hundreds of retailers who will donate a portion of the value of the gift card purchased to the school. You can allocate all of the proceeds to the school of half to the school and half towards your child's tuition. If your child's tuition is paid in full for the year, the money earned can be applied towards tuition for the next year.

BARNES AND NOBLE Night - Mark your calendars and put aside November 24th, its our Barnes and Noble night. A great way to purchase books off of our teacher's "wish lists" for new books in their classrooms, and start your holiday shopping and help earn money for the school. We earn 15% to 20% of Barnes and Noble sales for the day when purchased with our "coupon". New this year is an email voucher you can send to out of town relatives and friends, and they can shop at their local Barnes and Noble, give our "special" code at the register, and it will go towards our profit sales and cash return.

ACME receipts - Save those Acme receipts!!! If we total $5000.00 of purchases at Acme, we will receive money from Albertson corporation.

OUR OWN CANDLE COMPANY - Great smelling candles, reasonably priced. Enough said.

eSCRIP - Different from SCRIP, but so easy. Just register your participating merchant cards, and they will contribute a percentage of purchases to our school. Our group id # 6677203.

I know the amount of information attached to this letter may seem overwhelming, but please take the time to review the materials to see how easy it is to earn our school money without putting our any extra. As the year goes on please continue to check your child's backpack for more information on the above fundraisers, as well as new ones. Our success depends on each of our families participation. If you have any ideas, please fee free to contact me. Thank you for your dedication to your children's education here at Children's House of Bucks County.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Donohue

Librarians and Fun Lunchers wanted

We are still in need of several parent volunteers for the positions of

(1) Librarians

(2) Fun Lunch.

Please contact the school office and drop your name for the above spots.

Its fun, I promise.

Fall Family Fun Day

It was a beautiful day yesterday while we gathered, talked and the children played at school during Fall Family Fun Day.

A big THANK YOU to Pamela Leifer (mother of Karen Leifer in Mrs. Boggi's class) who organized and executed a beautiful social function for us to enjoy.

Also, a big THANK YOU to all the parents who volunteered either their time, talent, food, drink and craft items.

It would not have been possible without everyone involved.

My kids had fun and we met up with new parents as well.

Till our next social.

An hour of your time is all that we are asking for, spend more time if you can. We will not force you to leave.

So, don't forget to leave your name with the office for

Where: Churchville Nature Center
When: October 11th 2008
Time: 10 am to 4 pm

Fall Family Fun Day Items

We are still in need of a few items for our Fall Family Fun Day:

(1) 4 containers of Baby Wipe

(2) 3 coolers filled with ice

(3) Containers of Model Magic

Please drop the items off at the school's office before Friday October 3rd. Except the ice of course - That may be brought in on that day itself.

See you there!
